Thursday and Friday, Oct. 16th & 17th:  NO SCHOOL  Fall Break

Monday – Thursday, Oct. 27th – 30th:  Red Ribbon Week    Watch for notes coming home explaining more about the activities of Red Ribbon Week.

Halloween Friday, Oct. 31st:  Parade is first thing in the morning.  Your children can come to school in costume ready to parade by 9:10 a.m.  The individual classes may have activities after that depending on the teacher or grade level team.  Students may change into regular school clothes following the parade.

                                  Note from the Principal

This is a short week, the last day being Wednesday, Oct. 15th.

No school on Thursday and Friday!

Our “Freedom Wall” has been installed and looks great.  If you haven’t had a chance to see it, please come in and take a look.  It’s in the main entry way by the front desk.  We are now in the process of taking tax deductible donations if you are interested.  A plaque with donors’ names will be a permanent fixture and part of the wall for years and years to come. For $35 you can get your child’s name or your family name on the plaque. Just think, years from now your child could return to Washington Elementary with their children and point out their name on the plaque. What a great opportunity! If you would like to donate to our new wall, please come in to our office. J

We will be sending home soon your access information to PowerSchool, the online “permanent record” for your child.  You will be able to see attendance daily, grades from the teacher, and other information about your child’s records.  You need a username and password and the website information.  Watch for that note coming home in the near future.

Also, many students like our IXL on-line web based math program.  It can be accessed at home, but it has to be done through our school website: wes.washk12.org.  Click on “Parent & Students” icon at the top of the page, then select “Student Page” on the right.  Click on that and it will bring you to a page full of safe websites, including IXL.  It requires a username and password which your child knows.  If you try going through the IXL website, we’ve heard it doesn’t work as well.

Our Community Council is now up and running.  We will hold meetings on the last Friday of every month (except November and December). We will be posting an agenda on the door of the school a day or two before each meeting.  A copy of the agenda and minutes from the past meeting will also be posted on our website. Our council members are:  Amanda Whitney, Ben Warburton, Sarah Miller, Lennette Alldredge, and from the school: Mr. Kroff and myself. We will also post on the website contact information for each member and a summary of last year’s final report.
