September Update – 4 Things!

Washington Eagle Families —

We are zooming through September! Our school is buzzing with learning each day. We’ve got a new math curriculum and our teachers are working hard to make sure they are prepared each day. We’ve enjoyed some training in literacy and are always trying to get better and better at what we do. I hope that your student is enjoying and sharing their excitement about learning with you at home.

I have 4 important items I want to share:

  1. SEP Conferences – September 24 & 25 from 4~7pm – Schedule your appointment now on our school website – https://wes.washk12.org – (our school password is ‘washington’) – Our goals for these conferences are:
    • Develop strong relationship with your child’s teacher
    • Learn about your child’s current academic level (compared to grade level expectation)
    • Learn about how your child’s teacher will challenge your child
    • Learn activities and strategies that you can implement at home to support the academic growth of your child
    • We strive for 100% participation in our conferences – please schedule your appointment NOW!
  2. Emergency Preparedness – SECURE Drill – Today at school we held a secure drill. This type of drill involves students and school staff locking classroom doors and continuing normal activities inside their classrooms. A secure is implemented to help provide for safety from a threat outside of the building. We practice a safety drill at least one time each month. This link provides additional information on the types of drills we typically conduct during the school year (Emergency Drills – Parent Handout)
  3. PVHS Homecoming – There are two activities I wanted to make you aware of as part of the upcoming Pine View High School Homecoming week (Sept 22~26). First, the PVHS Homecoming parade will be on Sept 24 at 7pm – look for a float with Eddie the Eagle! Second, on Friday, Sept 26 we invite our students to dress in PV colors – maroon, silver and black.
  4. School Community Council – Our first SCC meeting will be held on Monday, Oct 6 at 3:45pm in our school conference room. If you are interested in participating on our community council please reach out to me directly – email: gro.21khsaw@rekab.mada or phone: 435-673-3012. More information about School Community Council is found on our website: https://wes.washk12.org/community-council/

I enjoy working with each of your students. I hope to see each of you at our upcoming SEP conferences!
