April 2026 – Update
We are loving the time we have with your amazing students! It is nearly May and we’re down to 4 weeks left of school. WHAT!? I hope your children have loved this school year as much as we have. I have 4 important items to either remind you about or give you all the information about:
- Dixie Power Kite Festival – Saturday, April 25 … that is THIS Saturday. This annual celebration of literacy will happen at the campus of Utah Tech University. Students will receive a free book, kite or $10 voucher for activities at the festival. Stop by the office if you need a new calendar!
- Annual Hot Dog Night – Celebrating 50 Years at our “NEW” School location, come join us for our Annual Hot Dog Night. April 30 from 5:00 to 6:30pm. Dinner, summer learning kits, BTS Music class informances, and Ga Ga Ball … we can’t wait to celebrate with each of you. See you there!
- Teacher Appreciation Week – May 4~8 – Star Wars Themed – be sure to share your love of this school year with your fantastic teacher!
- Monday, May 4 – Teacher Look-a-like Day – dress like your teacher or wear their favorite color (or dress as your favorite Star Wars Character for Star Wars Day – May the 4th Be With You).
- Tuesday, May 5 – Letters from the Galaxy – write a heartfelt note or draw a picture to show your teacher how much you appreciate him/her.
- Wednesday, May 6 – Fuel the Force – complete acts of kindness: hold open doors, give compliments, find small ways to show kindness throughout the day to help your teacher have an amazing day!
- Thursday, May 7 – Supply the Academy – bring a needed classroom supply to support our learning starship.
- Friday, May 8 – ‘YODA’ best teacher – bring a favorite treat or small surprise to celebrate your teacher!
- End of Year Testing – as we are finishing the school year strong, we do have a number of end of year assessments. All our students participate in the Acadience reading measure. This helps us know how your child is reading in grade level text. It also helps us know how your child is progressing in their reading skills. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students participate in the RISE assessments. These are summative assessments given to our students to measure their mastery of grade level content. Please watch for information from your classroom teacher about exact dates and times of testing. How you can help your child perform their very best. Encourage your child to give their very best effort, to take their time and to be careful as they work through the testing. Make sure to get a good nights rest each school night, but especially on nights before your child is testing. Eat a healthy breakfast. Continue to encourage and share a positive mindset about school and testing. We hope that each student will show what they know through their participation in these assessments. This helps us know how well we are teaching and helping prepare your child for the next grade level and to one day be an amazing adult.
As always, thanks for your continued support. We recognize how important it is that we work together!
