2026 March/April Update

Washington Eagle Families —

We’ve nearly made it to April! As I reflect back on this school year I am blown away by the amazing growth of our students and love to celebrate the academic growth of so many of our students. Our teachers and staff are really zeroing in and focusing on giving our students everything they can as we enjoy our April and May school days. I have a few items of note i’d like you to be aware of so you can get them on your calendar as well.

  1. April 15 @ 6pm – Kindergarten Kickoff – this is an event for our upcoming kindergarten students (any student who will begin Kindergarten this fall – must be 5 years old by Sept 2, 2026). We will intro our teachers, tour the school and help make sure our new kindergarten students have the tools and time they need to be ready to go this fall. Please share with friends and neighbors who may have an incoming Kindergarten student!
  2. April 25 – Dixie Power Kite Festival (https://www.dixiepowerkitefestival.com/) – this annual event brings our entire community together to celebrate literacy. Each student has a reading calendar that will help them earn a kite, free book or a $10 festival voucher. Plan now to stop by this amazing community event, it’s a blast!
  3. April 30 – WES Hot Dog Family Night @ 5~6:30pm – our annual family hot dog night will once again feature summer learning support from your grade level teachers. So bring your entire family and swing by the school – enjoy a hot dog, chips, and a cookie and pick up a summer learning packet for your student. Also, new this year, our music teacher, Mrs. Matos, will be having students perform some of their learning during this annual event! See you there!

All of us here at Washington Elementary appreciate your continued support. On time, all day attendance is still critical. Please do all you can to have your child here at school, on time, each day. In the coming weeks the end of year summative RISE assessment will begin for our students in grades 3, 4, 5. Please encourage your child to do their very best. We hope to be able to celebrate all of the academic growth and improvement of our students this year. The RISE assessment is one important measure of our success.

Summer like weather and temperatures have hit early this year. Remember our dress code for our students, please take a moment and review it HERE

Thanks again for your support of all things Washington Elementary! I think I can speak for all our teachers and staff, we love working with your children!
