Washington Elementary has been designated as a Title I school for many years. The Title I designation helps to close the achievement gap by providing extra funds for teachers, paraprofessionals, and supplies and materials to help provide the best learning opportunities for our students.
Our Title I status is determined by the percentage of families who qualify for free and reduced lunch. School District personnel recently notified us that our percentage of families who qualify for free and reduced lunch has dropped dramatically. Our data shows that many families have simply not taken the time to apply. If our percentage remains where it is at, we would be in jeopardy of losing teachers, paraprofessional staff and a large portion of our supply funds in future school years. ALL families are invited to complete the Free & Reduced Lunch application regardless of income status or whether you plan to use the benefit or not. Please take a moment to do this ASAP.
