2025 Mr and Ms PVHS

Mr & Ms PVHS – 15 Yr Anniversary

Washington Eagle Families —

🌟 Celebrating 15 Years of Making a Difference! 🌟 This year marks the 15th anniversary of this incredible PVHS event, and we are honored to introduce their 2024 recipients—Charity and Peter Swapp! ❤️

On behalf of Pine View High School, we are excited to share a special video about this year’s Mr. & Ms. PVHS recipients—Charity and Peter Swapp!

🎥 – https://youtu.be/I3cZtMb6k4″

Charity (5) and Peter (1) are two amazing siblings who live within Sandstone Elementary boundaries. They have Usher’s Disease, which is causing them to lose their hearing and will eventually take their eyesight by their teenage years. Charity attends the School for the Deaf and the Blind, while her older brother is a student at Sandstone Elementary. Their family has strong ties to the Panther community—their parents are PVHS alumni, and a set of grandparents work at Pine View High School. We are even lucky enough to have another Grandma working at Washington Elementary in our kitchen!

💙 We have our monster money jars out and are now helping to raise funds for these deserving students. Any funds raised through Mr. & Ms. PVHS will go toward the special education programs they need to help them gain independence. 🐾💛

Additional events happening at PVHS:

Hello parents and guardians!

Fall 2024 – SCC Information

School Community Council

September 25, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians of Washington Elementary Students,

Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council.  The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by employees and parents who are elected by parents of students attending the school.  Membership terms are for two years.  Elections are held at the beginning of each school year.

Parent members must have a student attending the school at least one of the two years of their term of service.  Employees must be employed by the school district at the school.

For more information please visit: School LAND Trust

This year our initial Community Council meeting will be held at 7:45am on:

We would love your thoughts, input, and ideas. If you would be willing to serve on our Washington Elementary School Community Council please contact Mr. Baker before October 10th(email: gro.21khsaw@rekab.mada or phone: 435-673-3012). All School Community Council meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

What a School Community Council is responsible for:

Our School Community Council is primarily responsible for the creation of our School LAND Trust Plan. This plan is created annually by analyzing our school testing data to determine the greatest academic need. The money our school receives from the School LAND Trust fund is allocated according to our plan. Plans are written to help meet the needs of each student. Washington Elementary has received over $542,000 since funds have been dispersed to Utah schools beginning in 2001. These funds have been allocated and used at our school to help meet our greatest academic need. Over the years our school has purchased technology to support student learning, books for our leveled library, math manipulatives, science materials, and we’ve been able to hire additional personnel to support targeted learning in small groups.

Thank you for your support of our school and our efforts to improve your children’s education.

2024 Sept Update – Patriot Day

Sept Update – Patriot Day!

Washington Elementary Families —

We've had an amazing start to our school year. I've really enjoyed getting to know and work with your children. Thank you for your patience as we have worked to get the new school year started. We are getting into a good groove, hopefully each of you are finding that the routine of school is getting easier and easier for you at home as well!

This next week we have an exciting event at our school. On Sept 11 each year we have a Patriot Day Assembly to start our school day. The assembly takes place on the front lawn of the school near the entrance and flag pole. We'd love to invite and honor any Hero's related to our students to participate with us in the passing of the flag. Any active duty military, military veterans, current or retired police, fire or EMS personnel would all be considered Hero's for our assembly. If your student has a relative that can participate with us, please let us know by completing the following survey: Patriot Day Hero Survey

One other celebration for our first month of school is our average daily attendance! Our daily attendance for the month of August was 94.4%, which shows that we are off to a great start this school year! We’ve set the same goal of 93% daily attendance for the year and we are currently NAILING IT! Your child’s teacher is striving to both build a positive relationship with your child and provide meaningful learning opportunities every day. We are also tracking our attendance as a school and plan to recognize and celebrate excellent attendance throughout the year. We understand that there will be times when your child misses school due to illness or other legitimate reasons. We appreciate when parents contact the school to excuse their child’s absences. Communication between home and school is essential to student success.

We will continue to post updates of our attendance goal on our school marquee, social media, and our school website. If you’d like to monitor our weekly attendance, it will be tracked on a Google Doc on the front page of our school website in the attendance section. Here’s the link to that doc: WES Average Daily Attendance

Thanks again for your support of all things Washington! It's a great place to be!

Free or Reduced Meals – APPLY NOW!

Free/Reduced Lunch – Apply NOW!

We’ve been fortunate to have had every child in our school able to eat breakfast and lunch for free over the past three school years.

This year we will be going back to the process of filling out an application to determine each child’s lunch status: full pay, reduced pay, or free lunch. Because of our school being designated as a Title I School we are asking that every family complete the free/reduced application form whether you think you will qualify or not. Having all families apply will help our school maintain its status as a Title I School.

You can apply right now! The application is online @ https://www.washk12.org/food-service/free-and-reduced/ or you can pick up a paper application in our office.

2024-25 Breakfast and Lunch Prices are as follows:

Reduced/Free – $0.00
Full Pay (student) – $1.75
Adult – $2.50

Lunch:
Reduced/Free – $0.00

At the conclusion of last school year we asked every family to complete the Free/Reduced application. We need you to complete the application again for the new school year. Please do so ASAP.

Thanks for your continued support of Washington Elementary! We’re so excited for the new school year to start and to welcome our students back!

July 2024 – So Long Summer

So Long Summer!

Washington Eagle Families —

Hello there! This is Mr. Adam Baker, the new Principal at Washington Elementary. I’ve been working this summer to make sure everything is ready to welcome each one of you back!! Our custodial team has been working hard to make sure everything is all set, our teachers have enjoyed their summer but I can tell that they are getting excited to have students back at school too! We’re lucky to have so many of our wonderful teachers returning this school year, I’m also excited to have some really excellent new teachers joining our school team. The 2024-25 School Year will be excellent at Washington Elementary!

Let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Adam Baker. I moved to Washington, UT when I was 8 years old … back in 1984!? I swam in the Boilers during the summer and loved to catch lizards. I went to Washington Elementary for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. I’m excited to be returning “home”. I’ve been an elementary school principal for the past 18 years. That really surprises me … It doesn’t really seem like it has been that long. I love working at Elementary Schools, they have the absolute BEST people in them! I am very excited to be working at Washington Elementary, I hope I can continue the great work that Mr. Mitchell was doing and help Washington Elementary continue to be an excellent place for each one of you!

One thing to get on your calendar – Washington Elementary Back to School Open House – Thursday, August 8 – 3:30 to 5:30pm – I hope each of you can attend, you’ll be able to meet your teacher, see your classroom, learn about and join PTA, find a few changes throughout the school (you might be surprised), learn about our school, and meet me in person! I can’t wait to visit with each one of you and to start learning your names … I have a goal to have everyone’s name memorized by Christmas!

Lastly, let me invite each of you to set a goal for the new school year! On Time ALL Day Attendance! Please do all you can to get routines established so that you can have your child to school on time each day. In addition to that, make all day attendance a priority. Do all you can to schedule appointments after 3:30 M~Th and after 12pm on Friday. Make all day attendance a priority! Developing excellent attendance habits will help throughout your child’s life!

I look forward to working with each of you in the upcoming school year.
